*The Wildest of Us*
In 1986, Alberto del Castillo arrived in El Chaltén to climb Fitz Roy — and never truly left. After crossing the Southern Patagonian Ice Field for ten days, he reached Estancia Cristina for the first time, beginning a story that is still being written.
In this interview filmed aboard the historic Cristina vessel, Simon Heyes of Senderos talks with Alberto about his life as a mountaineer, expedition guide, and today, director of Estancia Cristina — a man who has made one of Patagonia’s most remote corners his life’s work.
