On the back of record-breaking visitor numbers which increased by 22% in 2025 and a hospitality and aviation boom, never has there been more media attention on Guyana’s tourism, including Iwokrama Rainforest Reserve. A key location in the heart of the country’s rainforest , this million-acre reserve featured prominently in the recent Amazon documentary Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision with its patron King Charles.

On May 26 2026, Guyana officially marks its 60th Independence Anniversary, ushering in a year-long calendar of events with a ‘Homecoming’ theme. Wilderness Explorers offers insight into Guyanese history with tours such as A Taste of Freedom or a reflective overnight trip to the north-west to explore the dark legacy of Jonestown.
