Inti Raymi: Celebrating the Sun in Peru

In Peru, the winter solstice in June is celebrated as Inti Raymi, the Andean New Year and one of the country’s most important ancestral festivals. Held every June 24 in Cusco, the former capital of the Inka Empire, the celebration honors the Sun god, Inti, through ceremonies, rituals, and reenactments at Qorikancha, the Main Square, and Saqsaywaman.

Beyond the festivities, travelers can experience sunrise meditations, spiritual ceremonies honoring Pachamama, and energy walks through the Sacred Valley. June is also one of the best times to visit this region, thanks to its dry weather and spectacular views.
