Head of Member Services

Katie brings 18 years of travel industry experience to the Association. Well-travelled across Latin America independently, on FAM trips and hosting media trips, she now leads efforts to maximise member services and develops initiatives to improve engagement across the entire membership.

Business Development Manager Georgia, has two decades of travel industry experience. Her extensive background spans expedition planning, operations, and expertise in Latin American travel, working closely with members to drive growth and new opportunities.

Jane Memmler

Member Services Executive

Jane brings to LATA over twenty years of travel journalism at national newspapers, including more recently in public relations, to her role as Member Services Executive. She’s travelled the world extensively including to many Latin American countries

The LATA Executive Committee

The LATA Executive Committee is made of a board of volunteers from across the LATA Membership. The Committee meets regularly throughout the year to discuss ongoing projects and initiatives.

Martin Johnson

LATA Chair

Martin Johnson is the co-founder and director of award-winning tour operators Latin Routes and Polar Routes, which has since evolved into Cruise Routes, reflecting its expanding global exploration cruise offering.

Martin was appointed Chair in  2023. He works closely with industry partners to promote Latin America, support sustainable tourism initiatives and strengthen collaboration across the travel sector.

He joined LATA in 2018

Kirsty Williams

LATA Vice-Chair

As co-owner of Humboldt Travel, Kirsty has worked in Latin American travel for nearly 15 years and was appointed LATA Vice-Chair in 2026. Her joy is connecting with people and communities. She has built partnerships across Latin America with DMCs and hotels to ensure they are properly represented.

Quinn is Founder and Director of Crees Foundation, a Peru-based non-profit dedicated to supporting a sustainable Amazon. Working closely with local communities, the organisation helps people access rainforest resources in ways that are both profitable and preserve the forest for future generations.

Lyn is Managing Director, co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of Wanderlust, the UK’s multi award-winning magazine for cultural, authentic and adventurous travel. With an extensive global readership and a vibrant online presence, it remains the definitive publication for experiential travel worldwide.

Lyn joined the LATA Committee in 2005.

Simon Heyes

Simon is Founding Director of Senderos, championing unique wildlife lodges, conservation projects, boutique hotels and expedition vessels across Latin America. A former specialist tour operator with Last Frontiers, he founded Senderos in 2004.

He has served on the LATA Committee, on and off since 1996.

Jarrod is Product and Sustainability Director at Steppes Travel, where he has played a key role in developing the company’s Positive Impact Travel strategy. Having previously managed a tented camp in Kenya, he brings both tour operator and supplier perspective to his role.

Joaquín is Sales and Marketing Manager at Explorandes, an adventure travel pioneer in the Andes since 1975 and the first company to operate the Inca Trail. Continuing his father’s legacy, he brings fresh energy and a bold new approach to the ever-evolving challenges of modern tourism.

As Global Director of Sales at Aqua Expeditions, Milly brings over twenty years of South American luxury travel expertise, specialising in Peru, the Galapagos and beyond. A bilingual Lima native, she divides her time between her young family and is passionate about history and geography.

Fernando Amer

Fernando Amer is Operations Manager for the International Markets at Buenos Aires Tourism Board.  He brings over twenty years experience in incentive and leisure planning and has worked at two of Argentina’s luxury destination management companies.

Amberley Shermon-Jones

Business Development Director for Journey Mexico, Costa Rica and Brazil, Amberley has spent her career shaping meaningful travel experiences across Latin America. She believes travel is a force for good and a catalyst for economic opportunity, environmental protection, and cultural preservation.

Claire is the Latin America Representation Manager at The Adventure Connection, bringing over 25 years of experience working across Latin America.

She brings a  knowledge of  product management, marketing, and destination development throughout the region.

Gustavo has extensive travel industry experience including serving as Minister of Tourism of Costa Rica,  and now as CEO of ST Costa Rica. He has developed a special interest for regenerative approaches to tourism development, which perfectly ties into LATA’s approach to sustainable tourism.
